30 September 2026 is an important Corporate Tax deadline for UAE businesses whose Tax Period ended on 31 December 2025.
The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) requires taxable persons to file their UAE Corporate Tax Return and pay any Corporate Tax due within nine months from the end of their Tax Period. For businesses following a calendar financial year, this means the deadline falls on 30 September 2026.
With the deadline approaching, businesses should not wait until the last minute to assess their tax position, organize their records and complete their filing.
What Does the 30 September Deadline Mean for UAE Corporate Tax?
For a business whose Tax Period ran from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025, the Corporate Tax Return and any Corporate Tax payable must be submitted and settled by 30 September 2026.
This deadline applies to businesses that fall within the UAE Corporate Tax regime and have a Tax Period ending on 31 December 2025. Businesses with different Tax Periods may have different filing deadlines.
Corporate Tax compliance involves more than submitting a return. Businesses need to ensure that they are correctly registered, their financial information is accurate, applicable tax adjustments have been considered and the final return is submitted through the FTA’s EmaraTax platform.
Is Your Business Registered for UAE Corporate Tax?
Corporate Tax registration is a separate obligation from determining whether your business ultimately has Corporate Tax to pay.
A business should not assume that it does not need to register simply because its taxable income is below AED 375,000. The AED 375,000 threshold relates to the application of the 9% Corporate Tax rate and should not be confused with the registration requirement.
Businesses that have not completed their Corporate Tax registration should address this as soon as possible. Late registration can result in an AED 10,000 administrative penalty, subject to applicable rules and relief measures.
What Should You Prepare Before Filing?
Before submitting your UAE Corporate Tax Return, make sure your business has the necessary information and supporting records in order.
These may include:
- Corporate Tax registration details and TRN
- Valid trade licence and corporate documents
- Financial statements and accounting records
- Revenue and expense information
- Bank and supporting transaction records
- Details of related-party transactions, where applicable
- Information required to determine taxable income
- Details of applicable exemptions, reliefs or tax adjustments
- Financial year and Tax Period information
The quality of the underlying records is important because UAE Corporate Tax is generally determined based on accounting results after applying the relevant tax adjustments.
What About Free Zone Businesses?
Free zone companies are not automatically outside the scope of UAE Corporate Tax.
A free zone business may qualify for Qualifying Free Zone Person (QFZP) treatment if it satisfies the relevant conditions. Where the requirements are met, qualifying income may benefit from the 0% Corporate Tax rate.
However, having a free zone licence alone does not automatically mean that all income qualifies for the 0% rate.
Businesses operating from free zones should therefore review their activities, income, structure and compliance position before determining their Corporate Tax treatment.
Common Mistakes to Avoid while Filing UAE Corporate Tax
One of the biggest mistakes businesses make is assuming that no Corporate Tax payable means no filing obligation.
Other common issues include:
- Waiting until the deadline to begin preparing
- Filing without properly reviewing financial records
- Assuming free zone status automatically means 0% tax
- Using incorrect or inconsistent company information
- Overlooking applicable tax adjustments or reliefs
- Failing to address previous registration or compliance gaps
Preparing early gives businesses time to identify and resolve these issues before the filing deadline.
